Workshop- Enhancing Research Competency- Qualitative Methods and Analysis

The Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) Cell of Govt. College of Nursing, Kozhikode, successfully conducted a one-day workshop on "Enhancing Research Competency- Qualitative Methods and Analysis" on 11 july 2026, to strengthen the research skills of nursing professionals and academicians. The event brought together 86 delegates for an intensive session on qualitative study designs, data collection, coding, thematic analysis, and publication strategies. ​ Inaugurated by Principal Prof. Dr. Usha Kumari V, with leadership addresses from Dr. Babitha E K, Prof. Maya Sebastian, and Mrs. Remya Krishnan. ​Dr. Uma V. Sankar (Aster Medcity & NIE-ICMR) led sessions on qualitative paradigms, research design, and Braun & Clarke's Six-Step Thematic Analysis. ​Dr. Tijo George (AMCHSS, SCTIMST) facilitated hands-on workshops on in-depth interviews, FGD guides, open/axial coding, and preparing qualitative manuscripts. ​ Through practical transcript coding, group exercises, and interactive discussion, participants gained crucial hands-on experience in generating evidence-based findings to elevate nursing practice and patient care.
